DescriptionIn 2012, Palmer Davis began a photographic series entitled American Stories investigating American culture, identity, memory, and loss, conveyed in the everyday stories we tell and observe. These images capture quaint but poetic aspects of daily life, including the photograph shown here of street musicians in New Orleans.

A native of New Britain, CT, Davis spent many of his early years at the New Britain Museum of American Art. His photographs explore the beauty and mystery of ordinary moments, and draw inspiration from American artists including Hudson River School painters, Edward Hopper, and 20th-century photographers Robert Fran, William Eggleston, and Stephen Shore.
