DescriptionContains 10 drawings. In the summer of 1985, Miller went to Salamanca to study Spanish. He also spent time drawing the streets and architecture of the city. The sketches, in black and white, take note of the harsh sunlight of central Spain and its effect on the low relief Plateresque details of the city's old buildings. "Park near Las Ursalas, Salamanca" and "Plaza de la Libertad" contrast the pattern of filtered shadows and sun against the vertical elements of the surrounding tree trunks and architecture. As in most of Miller's work., landscape or cityscape, the nature of light become s unifying element setting the mood of a piece and examining the structure of its subjects. On View
