BiographyBorn in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, R.D. Smith began his career as a freelance editorial photographer after graduating from the Paier College of Art. His photography has been on exhibit in institutions and in private galleries all across the country, and he has had his photographs featured in many prestigious publications, such as the New York Times and Black and White magazine. However, Smith believes that not all compelling photographs need to be newsworthy; the ones he finds most interesting are ordinary subjects. To him, the photographer must be a witness to real moments in everyday life, rendering it with compassion and dignity.
