Description"Duet" exemplifies the artist's persuasive color range and signature smudged brush strokes. An octopus, in the center of the canvas, has released an ink ring that will eventually settle around the sponged mass below. Other amoeba-like creatures float about the large green space as the octopus flees the scene. While creating this abstracted scene, Russell has simultaneously drawn the viewer's attention to the flat canvas. He achieves this effect by including small brush hairs and marks that look like dripped water. On View
