BiographyA native of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Gordon Russell received many art scholarships and awards during his time in high school and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Arts. Russell studied with American painter Walter Stuempfig (1914-1970) and painted abstract landscapes, allegories and detailed portraits. In 1957, the Durlacher Gallery in New York City organized Russell's first solo show.
