DescriptionAfter graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago, Anderson went on to study at the Grand Central School of Art in New York with famed illustrators such as Harvey Dunn (1884-1952), Pruett Carter (1891-1955), and Walter Biggs (1886-1968). In 1929, Anderson began illustrating for several publishers to finance his studies, which included his early work for pulp magazines and comic strips. Throughout his career, his illustrations made their way into leading national magazines and advertisements for Pepsi, General Electric, World Airway and Procter & Gamble. He later retired to Fairfield, CT.

"We Were Two Comrades Again and Happy" was originally published as an accompanying illustration to the story "The Blue Cloak" in an October 1940 edition of "Woman's Home Companion" magazine.
