Frederick Andrew Bosley1881 - 1942
Born in Lebanon, New Hampshire, Frederik Andrew Bosley was a prolific member of the Boston School of painting, also known as "The Ten." A traditional, expressionist painter during the advent of modernism, Bosley never compromised his love for conventional art subjects, despite their decline in popularity.
As a student under Edmund C. Tarbell (1862-1938) and Frank W. Benson (1862-1951) at the School of Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Bosley developed his mature style during his six years of study. Upon graduating, he extended his studies in Europe, which provided a sound foundation for his future career as both an artist and painting instructor at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.
