BiographyMarc Yves Regis I, a poet and photographer, was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Appalled by the atrocities committed by President Jean-Claude Duvalier's government, Regis began writing poetry in the early 1970s to express his views. Accused of dissidence and pursued by the secret police, he was forced to flee to Miami, Florida. He studied photography at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale and has since worked as a photojournalist for publications including the Miami Herald and the Hartford Courant. He currently resides in Newington, Connecticut.
