DescriptionAs viewers, we are used to looking at paintings of flowers in vases or cut flowers as parts of still lives. Therefore, it is interesting that "August" shows a unique and innovative view of flowers. The viewer looks up at them, which is also known as a worm's eye view. This point of view reminds one of late summer days when school children would lie in the grass and day dream while watching the clouds and observing the birds in the sky. Ferguson's paintings are thoroughly painted and show his style of intensified but yet poetic realism. On View
