Description"Mt Zion Methodist Church" is part Ottenstein's Iowa series, which details the physical changes of the natural landscape and of the built environment that accompanied the social and economic trends at the turn of the of twenty-first century in the American Midwest. In Mt Zion Methodist Church, a white and weather-worn country church stands in contrast with the nature around it, with its stark and rigid geometric lines. The closed, windowless structure seems enigmatic and reticent and invites the invention of some sort of narrative.
