DescriptionDiGiovanni watched hundreds of films when he worked at a video store. "6 o'clock News" may be interpreted as two variations of the same scene; each panel is a still movie frame with slightly different details. The action consists of a boy loading food into a refrigerator. A woman, perhaps his mother, rests her head on the table. The angle from which the scene is painted varies in each scene. The viewer is challenged to decide if one scene precedes the other or if each painting is a possible version of the same moment. The artist creates a twilight zone moment charged with possibilities. DiGiovanni participated in the New/Now series in 2001.On View
