DescriptionSewell enjoyed depicting humorous scenes such as "Circuit Breakers". His style was accessible and appealed to the wide audience that read the "Post". Sewell spoke the everyday language of the contemporary American and readers responded positively to these domestic subjects. Richard McGee, a General Electric circuit breaker engineer, purchased this painting in 1956 and donated it to the Museum in 1984.
