Amanda Hillb. 1971

Amanda Hill lives in Wethersfield with her husband and her 2 small children. She is the owner and operator of The Personal Palette – a decorative and mural painting company. Hill is a graduate of Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pennsylvania, where she earned her degree in Studio Art and Art History. She received additional training at the Rhode Island School of Design where she specialized in landscape painting and figure modeling. Most recently, Hill studied innovative techniques at the Institute of Decorative Painting based in Madison, Connecticut.

Hill describes her work:

My hope with this piece is to add some humor, whimsy, and an element of surprise to activities as mundane as washing our hands.

I have always been interested in the little things in life and I like to inject that into my art. Sometimes we overlook the small things, but this doesn't necessarily mean that they are not important. The small things in life are the things that can bring us the most happiness, and enjoyment. As a decorative painter and muralist I think that the smallest things can change the feel of a room, house and/or our environment. I try and make people happier and give them a smile when they notice a small flourish on a hand painted border or a mouse in the corner of a large mural. I like to think that the work I do is fun and whimsical, while still taking the space and wishes of my customers seriously.
