Harvey Thomas Dunn1884 - 1952
Born in South Dakota, Dunn first studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and later was taught by Howard Pyle, who would prove to be a great influence on him. Dunn became an accomplished illustrator for numerous magazines and for the World War I Expeditionary Force. He founded the Dunn School of Illustration in New Jersey, in 1912. The artist became known for his distinctive brushstroke, his sensitivity to color, and his often forceful and dramatic approach to his subject.
