BiographyEmil Ahlborn was a lesser known member of the group of academic painters from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He studied with Edmund C. Tarbell (1862-1938), who taught his students to master the rendered form in pencil before they began painting. Though strongly influenced by Tarbell, Ahlborn also had a strong interest in vibrant colors and texture that made his paintings stand out among his contemporaries.
