Sheila Isham
Sheila Isham was born, raised, and trained in America. However, she studied at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts, spent three years studying calligraphy in China, lived in the Caribbean for four years (submersing herself in Haitian culture), and traveled frequently to India. She is influenced by inner necessities that produce new cultural rhythms, colors and symbols, relating to the spirit of human condition. She has a deep connection with nature, which she cites as her greatest teacher, and is interested in cosmic energy that evokes the mythic and spiritual. In her work, abstract and figurative art are intertwined, as she integrates foreign cultures with western painting. Through her work, she seeks to give the viewer a sense of peace and speak to his or her inner nature.
