Eugene Edward Speicher

Eugene Speicher was one of the most prominent portrait painters of his time, though he only took commissions from people who “intrigued” him. After winning an award at the Art Students League for his portrait of fellow student and good friend Georgia O’Keefe (1887-1986), he went on to paint many of his contemporaries who were important figures in New York City. He also painted many un-commissioned portraits and figure studies throughout his career.
