John RogersAmerican, 1829 - 1904

Rogers ran one of the most successful art production firms of all time. He created and marketed hundreds of inexpensive plaster sculptures which were given away as wedding and birthday presents during the nineteenth century as well as many illustrated dramatic scenes from Shakespeare plays and popular American poems. An equivalent phenomenon was the popularity of Currier and Ives Prints.
