DescriptionKline builds upon the tradition of encaustic painting, which has been longstanding in many cultures around the globe. The process involves combining wax with color pigment and manipulating the medium into an endless array of shapes. In “Empoisonner”, rugged crests of neon pink and cyan blue animate the surface. The title of the work (French for “to poison” or “to kill”) and its electric color combination together evoke the relationship between bright coloration and danger that often exists in nature - some of the world’s most beautiful, albeit poisonous creatures and plants rely on contrasting colors to warn predators of their toxicity.
