Description"Horseman at Rajastan" is another striking example of Mitchell's travels throughout India. The dark yet luminous green tree which, just like the sail in "Bay of Bengal", takes over the canvas and shades the figures in the coolness of its leaves, allowing them to take refuge from the stifling heat of the desert. Mitchell's signature fluid brushstrokes and depth of color run throughout this work, and his interest in exoticism is certainly evident.On View
