DescriptionGoodnough challenged himself to express ideas and emotions solely through the use of non-representational form and color. Although he experimented with other styles, including Cubism and hard-edge painting, he returned to abstract canvases which, since the 1970s, have been typified by large areas of muted color filled with small clusters of geometric shapes. Because of his use of this compositional device, Goodnough's paintings appear to have great energy and implied movement.On View
