DescriptionLeyendecker's image of the handsome, debonair American male remains a classic. The chiseled features and natty dress of his models helped to establish the success of the Arrow Collar Company. It is unclear whether "Male Fashion Model" was illustrated for "Country Gentleman Magazine" in the 1920s or as an advertisement for Kuppenheimer's Men's Clothing Company. His career coincided with the advent of mass marketing and the rise of advertising. In addition to his advertisements, Leyendecker created more than three hundred covers for the "Saturday Evening Post", which published his first illustration in 1899 and his last in 1939.On View
