Description"The Moors" is a reflection of Lie's lifelong interest in the countryside of Norway. The idyllic cottages and vibrant green pastures that lay on the edge of a pale sea dotted with sailboats is an ideal subject for Lie's loose, Impressionist style. The sea was a theme that inspired Lie throughout his entire career, and he was particularly fascinated by the effect of light reflecting off the water- something captured beautifully in this painting. On View
