Jean Day Zallinger1918 - 2007

Jean Day Zallinger (1918-2007) was a children's book illustrator, best known for her pencil renderings of animals. She was born in Boston and studied at the Massachusetts College of Art, BA Yale, 1942, and was a professor at Paier College of Art from 1967-1988.

Zallinger illustrated over 75 children's books, many non-fiction. Her husband, Rudy Zallinger, also an artist, is best known in Connecticut for her mural "The Age of Reptiles" at Yale's Peabody Museum.
