DescriptionMoeller's charming subjects are tracking tips at the race course over a strong drink. Each is animated and fully engaged in the exchange. Elegantly attired, the two old men relish the sporting life and are comfortable in their friendship. Another equally appealing genre painting won the National Academy of Design's prestigious Hallgarten Prize in 1883, thus establishing the artist's New York reputation. Earlier he had learned his technical proficiency in Munich, Germany, as an art student. On View
